Why Multi-Stage Paint Correction is Essential

Every time your car gets washed — whether by hand, tunnel, or touchless — tiny scratches accumulate in the clear coat. These are the swirl marks you see in direct sunlight, creating that "spider web" pattern that makes even clean paint look dull.

Automatic car washes are the biggest culprits. Those spinning brushes trap dirt and drag it across your paint thousands of times. Even hand washing with the wrong technique — circular motions, dirty towels, pressing too hard — creates swirls. Sacramento's dust doesn't help either.

Paint correction removes these defects by carefully leveling the clear coat with machine polishers and progressively finer abrasive compounds. It's not about adding shine on top — it's about removing the scratches that block the shine.

Why Correction Before Coating?

Ceramic coating is transparent. It locks in whatever's underneath — including swirls, scratches, and water spots. Coating over bad paint means you're stuck looking at those defects for years. Correction first ensures the coating amplifies perfect paint, not imperfect paint.

Same goes for PPF. The film is thin enough that defects show through. Applying PPF over uncorrected paint means you're preserving swirl marks forever. That's why every serious ceramic coating or PPF job starts with paint correction.
