Does window tint affect Tesla range?
Indirectly, yes — in a positive way. Ceramic tint reduces the heat load inside your car, which means the cabin overheat protection (COP) runs less while you're parked, and your AC doesn't have to work as hard while driving. Both of these save battery. Some Tesla owners report 5-10 miles of extra range on hot days after tinting. Plus, ceramic film has zero metal, so there's no interference with Autopilot cameras, FSD sensors, or key fob signal.
What is the darkest legal tint for Tesla in California?
California law requires front side windows to allow 70% of light through (70% VLT). The good news? You can go as dark as you want on rear side windows and the rear glass. Most Tesla owners we see choose 15-20% on the rear and sides, with 70% ceramic on the fronts.
